#Coal sector may be one of the top Loss Making sector in India in the next 10 years.

☑️Why?

India produced 602 million tonnes of coal in 2019-20.
We know  India's 70-75% coal is consumed in power generation, specially in Coal based power sector.
India's current power generation capacity 365 GW (365000 MW) and 70-75% coming from 269 Coal fired plants .
We know India has embarked on an ambitious target of having 500GW (500000MW) of renewable energy by 2030 and also provide 17 lakh solar pumps to farmers under Pradhan Mantri-Kusum Yojana .

So, by 2030 India can expect 50% power from Renewable energy ,when estimated power demand 900-1000GW  ...so,India can expect Coal demand to fall 40- 50% by 2030.

✓Water consumption by Thermal power-

40% India's thermal  power plants are in water scares area.
As of August 30, 2019, there were 269 thermal power plants in India, according to the Central Electricity Authority. Taken together, these plants consume 88% of the total amount of water consumed by the industrial sector, according to a study conducted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
Moreover according to a report of the NITI Aayog, about 40% of India's population will have no access to drinking water by 2030.
